# Supastro compared with Vedic AstroGPT

A feature-level comparison of Supastro and Vedic AstroGPT for Vedic astrology: what each computes, which astronomical source it uses, how each handles an uncertain birth time, and what is free versus paid.

## How Supastro differs

Supastro computes the astrology first and constrains the AI to those computed values, rather than prompting a language model with a chart summary and letting it generate prose. In practice that means divisional charts from D1 to D60 plus higher vargas to D150, the full 337-point Ashtakavarga system, Shadbala across all six sources, and Vimshottari dasha nested five levels deep — all derived from NASA JPL ephemeris data. It also declines to answer where the input data cannot support a conclusion.

## What to compare when choosing

Which astronomical source the positions come from, since every later calculation inherits its precision. How deep the divisional charts go — D9 alone is common, D60 is not. Whether dasha timing nests beyond mahadasha and antardasha. And whether the app will tell you when it cannot answer; one that always has a confident reply is generating prose, not reading a chart.
