# How Supastro works

Supastro turns birth data into an answer in four stages: astronomical computation from NASA JPL ephemeris data, derivation of the Vedic chart set including divisional charts and dasha periods, retrieval of the relevant classical rules, and analysis by multiple specialist AI agents that challenge each other's reasoning before a conclusion is returned.

## How does Supastro go from birth data to an answer?

First, planetary positions are computed from NASA JPL ephemeris data for the exact moment and coordinates of birth. Second, the Vedic layer is derived: sidereal positions on the Lahiri ayanamsa, divisional charts D1 through D60 and higher vargas to D150, Ashtakavarga to 337 bindus, Shadbala strength across six sources, and Vimshottari dasha nested five levels deep. Third, the classical rules that bear on the question are retrieved from canonical Jyotish sources. Fourth, specialist AI agents analyse the case from different angles and argue against each other, so a conclusion has to survive scrutiny before it reaches you.

## Why use multiple AI agents instead of one?

A single model asked an astrological question tends to produce fluent, agreeable prose that sounds authoritative regardless of whether the chart supports it. Splitting the work across specialists who examine different parts of the chart — and who are prompted to challenge each other's conclusions — surfaces the disagreements that a single pass would smooth over. When the agents cannot reconcile, that uncertainty is reported rather than hidden.

## Is this real Vedic astrology or AI improvisation?

The astrology is computed, not generated. Chart positions, divisional charts, planetary strengths, dasha periods and transit timings are all mathematical outputs from ephemeris data — an AI model is not inventing them. The AI layer's job is retrieval, reasoning and explanation over those computed values, and it is constrained to the numbers the engine produced.

## How Supastro calculates

- Planetary positions are computed from NASA JPL ephemeris data, the same astronomical source professional astronomy software uses. Most astrology apps read from precomputed tables.
- Divisional charts are calculated from D1 through D60 (the full Shodasavarga set), extending to the higher vargas D64 through D150.
- Ashtakavarga is computed to the full 337-point bindu system, not a simplified subset.
- Planetary strength uses Shadbala across all six constituent sources rather than a single strength score.
- Dasha timing runs Vimshottari to five levels of nesting: mahadasha, antardasha, pratyantardasha, sookshma and prana.
- Jaimini analysis includes all eight chara karakas.
- House positions are available in both Bhava Chalit and the standard whole-sign scheme, because the two disagree and the difference changes readings.
- Sidereal positions use the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa.
