Rahu–Ketu Transit December 2026: Rahu in Capricorn, Ketu in Cancer, Sign by Sign
On 5 December 2026 Rahu moves into Capricorn and Ketu into Cancer, until about June 2028. Why some sites say 25 November, what the career-versus-home axis means, and which houses it lights up for your Moon sign.

Rahu and Ketu are changing signs. That part is true. The panic attached to it is not. What the shift actually does is narrower, more useful and, for some Moon signs, quite exciting.
When exactly do Rahu and Ketu change signs, and why do some sites say 25 November?
Rahu and Ketu are not bodies. They are the two points where the Moon's path crosses the Sun's path, always exactly opposite each other, and they drift backward through the zodiac, about one sign every 18 months.
There are two ways to compute that point. The mean node smooths the motion into a steady backward crawl. The true node follows the real point, which wobbles: it speeds up, slows down and occasionally even moves forward for a few days. Over a year the two agree to within a degree or two, but near a sign boundary that small gap becomes days. This time, the true node crosses about ten days earlier.
Neither is "wrong". Most Indian panchangs use the mean node, and so does our engine, which is why every Supastro tool, from the live planet positions to the 2027 transit calendar, shows 5 December. If your astrologer uses the true node, ask them to say so. A good one will.
What does Rahu in Capricorn and Ketu in Cancer mean?
Start with the signs. Capricorn is the tenth sign of the natural zodiac: Saturn's earth sign, the sign of institutions, rank, long careers and public results. Cancer is the fourth: the Moon's water sign, the sign of home, mother, memory and the feeling of being safe.
Now add the nodes. Rahu amplifies: it creates hunger, ambition and a slightly obsessive focus wherever it sits. An old Jyotish maxim says Rahu behaves like Saturn, and in Saturn's own sign that likeness is strong. Expect Rahu in Capricorn to reward the patient climber and punish the shortcut. Ketu subtracts: it detaches, simplifies and turns attention inward. In the Moon's sign, it asks people to stop looking for security in the old places.
So the collective tone of December 2026 to June 2028 is a pull between the summit and the base. Status, careers, governments and corporate structures get louder. The emotional floor underneath them, the home and the family past, asks to be rebuilt rather than assumed.
Rahu enters Capricorn at its last degree and moves backward, through Dhanishta, then Shravana, then Uttara Ashadha. Ketu moves back through Cancer the same way: Ashlesha, Pushya, then the last pada of Punarvasu.

Then repeat the count from your ascendant. The Moon shows how the 18 months feel. The ascendant shows where they land. If Capricorn is your 10th house from the ascendant, the 10th house is where Rahu does its work; if Cancer is your 4th, the 4th house is where Ketu clears space.
Who will feel the Rahu–Ketu shift the most?
- Cancer and Capricorn Moons or ascendants. The axis sits right on you. Rahu or Ketu over the natal Moon is the most personal version of this transit.
- Aries and Libra Moons or ascendants. The 4th–10th axis: home against career, in its purest form.
- Anyone with natal planets in late Capricorn or late Cancer. The nodes enter at the end of each sign and move backward, so planets in the last degrees are contacted first, within weeks of 5 December.

What happens when Jupiter and Saturn touch the axis?
This is the part almost nobody is talking about, and it is the part I find most interesting. Ketu cannot shake Jupiter this cycle.
Jupiter enters Leo on 31 October 2026, while Ketu is still there, so the two sit together for about five weeks. Then Ketu moves into Cancer, and Jupiter, after turning retrograde, follows it back: exalted Jupiter sits with Ketu in Cancer from 25 January to 26 June 2027, and from there casts its 7th aspect straight onto Rahu in Capricorn. Jupiter with Ketu is the classic combination for teachers, mantra and inner study. Jupiter aspecting Rahu tends to civilise Rahu's hunger.
Then Saturn arrives. From 3 June 2027, Saturn in Aries throws its 10th aspect onto Capricorn, its own sign, where Rahu sits. That pauses while Saturn dips back into Pisces from 20 October 2027 and resumes on 23 February 2028. Saturn looking at Rahu in Saturn's sign is a reality check on ambition: structures built honestly get sturdier, shortcuts get audited.
Is the 2026 Rahu–Ketu transit Kaal Sarp?
No. Kala Sarpa, as it is sold, is a natal-chart label for all seven planets falling on one side of the nodes. It does not appear in Parashara, and I have written about why the Kala Sarpa scare is mostly a sales funnel. A transit cannot install it in your birth chart. If someone tells you this nodal shift has "activated" a dosha that needs an expensive puja, you are looking at the business model that made us decide never to do fear-based astrology.

How should you use the next 18 months?
- Name the Rahu house and go after it on purpose. Rahu rewards a written plan and punishes drift. If Capricorn is your 10th, apply, pitch, build the public thing.
- Name the Ketu house and simplify it. Ketu clears what is finished. If Cancer is your 4th, sell the clutter, have the honest family conversation, stop decorating a life you have outgrown.
- Watch late December 2026 and early 2027 if you have natal planets in late Capricorn or late Cancer.
- Use January to June 2027. Exalted Jupiter with Ketu is a rare window for study, mantra and a real teacher.
- Chant, do not buy. For Rahu, Om Bhram Bhreem Bhroum Sah Rahave Namah on Saturdays; for Ketu, Om Shram Shreem Shroum Sah Ketave Namah on Tuesdays, 108 times each.
