Why does Sade Sati pause and restart?
Saturn turns retrograde (appears to move backwards) for months every year, and near a sign line that carries it back into the sign it left. Every 2027 sign change is on the 2027 transit calendar. Nor is it seven and a half years exactly: 7.17 for Mesh, 7.97 for Meen, 8.08 for Kumbh, 7.11 for Vrishabh.
Why do two people with the same rashi get a different Sade Sati?
Because your Moon sign says where Saturn is, not what it brings. A transit read without vedha and planetary strength "will never come true" (Prasna Marga 22.54). Five things move it:
- Saturn's own points in that sign. Your Saturn Ashtakavarga (its bindu chart) scores Saturn 0 to 8 in each sign; more points make its transit favourable (BPHS 70.43 to 44), even in the 12th (Phaladeepika 26.41). See the Saturn Bhinnashtakavarga page. The sign's total from all planets: over 30 favourable, under 25 adverse (BPHS 72.3 to 5).
- Saturn's dignity. Own sign, no harm (Phaladeepika 26.31); fall, worse (26.32).
- Saturn's job for your ascendant. For Vrishabh rising, Saturn "will cause Raj Yog" (a rise in rank); for Tula and Kumbh rising it is auspicious; for Mesh rising, a malefic (harmful) (BPHS 34.19 to 24, 34.33 to 34, 34.41 to 42).
- Your running dasha. In Parashara's own example, Saturn's deadliest transit for a father fails while a favourable dasha runs (BPHS 70.10 to 14). Check yours on the Vimshottari dasha page.
- Vedha, rising phase only. Saturn's 12th is the blocking point of its good 3rd. Another planet in the 3rd from your Moon, except the Sun, holds Saturn's 12th-house harm back (Prasna Marga 22.35, 22.48, 22.52 to 53).
Who has Dhaiya now, and who gets it from 3 June 2027?
Dhaiya, Saturn's two-and-a-half-year spell, is Saturn 4th (Kantaka Shani) or 8th (Ashtama Shani) from your Moon: loss of relations and wealth, or loss and disease (Phaladeepika 26.22). Now: Kantaka for Dhanu (Sagittarius), Ashtama for Simha (Leo), off 3 June to 20 October 2027, over 23 February 2028. From 3 June 2027: Kantaka for Makar (Capricorn), Ashtama for Kanya (Virgo), to 17 April 2030, off 20 October 2027 to 23 February 2028 and 8 August to 5 October 2029.
