Job Joining Muhurat: Offer Letters, Launches, First Car, Moving Out

A muhurat is an hour, not a day. Here is exactly what Supastro's Muhurat Finder checks for a joining day, an offer letter, a launch, a first car and a move, and how your birth star changes the answer.

Job Joining Muhurat: Offer Letters, Launches, First Car, Moving Out

A muhurat is an hour, not a day. For a joining day, Supastro's Muhurat Finder wants three things at once: a good Choghadiya (one of the eight equal slices of daylight), the Moon in a star suited to the act, and none of the classical bad periods running. For New Delhi, 2 to 8 November 2026, only four windows survived in seven days, and four of the days got none.

What does the Muhurat Finder actually check?

It cuts first, then it scores. Every window it shows has passed these cuts:

  • Rahu Kaal, Yamaganda and Gulika: daylight, sunrise to sunset, is split into eight equal parts, and each weekday hands one part to each of these three.
  • Dur Muhurtam: the day is also split into 15 muhurtas, about 48 minutes each on a 12-hour day; one or two are bad each weekday.
  • Varjyam: a stretch inside each nakshatra (the 27 star segments the Moon moves through), one fifteenth of the star's length, that is left out.
  • Bhadra: Vishti, the bad karana (half of a tithi, a lunar day).
  • Rikta tithis and the new moon: the 4th, 9th and 14th lunar days of either half, and Amavasya.
  • The wrong star: the Moon's star must suit what you start (table below).

Then it scores what is left: a Choghadiya that suits the event, plus points for Abhijit (the midday muhurta), Amrit Kaal (a good stretch inside each star), the right star, and the hora (planetary hour) of the event's planet: the Sun for a job, Mercury for a launch, Jupiter for money, the Moon for a home. It keeps windows of 30 minutes or more, at most two per date, over the next 30 days. Watch the parts live in Today's Choghadiya and Amrit Kaal Today; the day's tithi and star are in Today's Panchang.

The cuts are old. The notes to Uttara Kalamrita call the star's rejected stretch (tyajya kala) the time to be rejected for any good activity, one fifteenth of the nakshatra. Prasna Marga lists Vishti among the bad karanas, and its notes name the 4th, 9th and 14th as the Rikta (empty) lunar days and size every muhurta from that day's real length, which is why the finder asks for your city.

What is the best muhurat for joining a new job?

A daytime window in a Shubh, Labh or Amrit Choghadiya, with the Moon in a swift star (Ashwini, Pushya or Hasta) for full marks, or a fixed, movable or mixed star for good marks. Fierce and sharp stars are cut. New Delhi, 2 to 8 November 2026, no birth details:

  • Monday 2 to Wednesday 4: nothing. The Moon sat in Ashlesha, Magha and Purva Phalguni, sharp and fierce stars the finder cuts for a job.
  • Thursday 5: 12:28 to 1:26 pm (Labh) and 4:11 to 5:33 pm (Shubh), Moon in Uttara Phalguni, a fixed star. The second is the week's best.
  • Friday 6: 9:31 to 10:42 am (Amrit), Moon in Hasta, a swift star, ideal for a job.
  • Saturday 7: 8:04 to 9:20 am (Shubh), Moon in Chitra, neutral for a job.
  • Sunday 8: nothing. Chaturdashi, a Rikta tithi, ran until 11:28 am, then the new moon took the rest of the day.

If HR fixes Monday 2 November, the finder shows nothing for it, and I will not pretend otherwise: by these rules that day is weak for a start. Ask for Thursday afternoon or Friday morning.

Offer letter, launch, first car, moving out: what does each need?

Each milestone maps to one finder option, and each wants a different kind of star. The finder sorts the 27 nakshatras into seven temperaments (fixed, movable, swift, soft, fierce, sharp, mixed), as Supastro's Muhurat Finder applies them from Muhurta Chintamani and Kalaprakashika, which its code cites. A car has its own option. Pick Buy a vehicle and the finder accepts only the twelve stars the Muhurat Calendar uses for vehicles (Rohini, Mrigashira, Punarvasu, Pushya, Hasta, Chitra, Swati, Anuradha, Shravana, Dhanishtha, Shatabhisha, Revati) and scores the Venus hora higher. The calendar adds the rest of the rule: Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday only, certain lunar days only, never in Pitru Paksha, clear of Rahu Kaal and Bhadra, no start after 9 pm. Pick the day from the calendar, then the hour from the finder.

A new flat is the opposite of travel: the finder cuts every movable star for a housewarming, because you mean to stay. The Muhurat Calendar adds the season: only Vaishakha, Jyeshtha, Kartika, Margashirsha, Magha and Phalguna, never Sunday or Tuesday, and only while Venus and Jupiter are visible. The move itself is travel. Drive on a movable star; walk in on a fixed one.

How does my birth star change the answer?

Add your birth date, time and place and the finder reads two things from your birth Moon. If you do not know your birth star, get it from Find Your Nakshatra or read about the 27 nakshatras first.

Tara Bala (star strength). Count from your birth star to the day's star, your own star as 1, in cycles of nine. Parashara names the 3rd, 5th and 7th stars from the birth star Vipat, Pratyak and Vadha (BPHS 44.15 to 21), and Prasna Marga names the same three among the days an illness must not begin. The finder cuts them:

Phaladeepika gives the transiting Moon good results in the 1st, 3rd, 6th, 7th, 10th and 11th (Phaladeepika 26.2). The 8th is Chandrashtama, which Prasna Marga's notes define as the Moon in the 8th from its birth position.

Why does the finder need my city?

Because every bad period is a fraction of your city's real daylight. Here is the rule the finder and Rahu Kaal Today both use, with computed New Delhi times:

Frequently asked questions

Is Rahu Kaal in the classical texts?

Uttara Kalamrita mentions Rahu kala in a rule about sea baths; the note in our edition says it is kept mainly in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala and that standard texts do not mention it. The finder cuts it anyway, with Yamaganda and Gulika.

What if my company fixes the joining date?

Then the date is not yours; the hour may be. Run the finder for that city and use its window if it shows one. If it shows none, the day is weak by these rules. Accept it, and do not pay anyone to fix it.

Is Abhijit Muhurat enough on its own?

No. It is the 8th of the 15 daytime muhurtas, centred on midday. The finder only adds points for it, skips it on Wednesdays, when it falls on that day's Dur Muhurtam, and cuts it like any hour under a bad star or Rahu Kaal.

Does the finder read my whole birth chart?

No. With birth details it reads your birth Moon: its star for Tara Bala and its sign for Chandra Bala. It does not read your dasha or your houses.

How far ahead can I plan?

The finder looks 30 days ahead. For a full year of vehicle, housewarming, marriage and mundan (first haircut) dates for your city, use the Muhurat Calendar.

What is the difference between a muhurat and a prashna?

A muhurat picks the moment to start something. A prashna (horary) chart answers a question from the moment you ask it. Will I get this job? That is a prashna: see Prashna Astrology Explained.
