Best Panchang Apps in 2026: 9 Compared on Tithi, Muhurat Timings, Regional Calendars and Ads
Drik Panchang, Prokerala, Kalnirnay, AstroSage, mPanchang, align27, AskSoma, Om.AI and Supastro, compared on what each shows for your city, in which language, and where we caught mistakes.

Disclosure: Supastro publishes this comparison and makes one of the panchangs on it. Every competitor fact comes from the company's own pages or store listings, figures last checked on 25 October 2026. Where an app showed something I could not reconcile with Drik Panchang, I report what each showed and let you judge. Nobody gets a star rating.
What should a panchang app show you?
A panchang is the Hindu almanac for one day in one place. Its name means five limbs:
- Tithi, the lunar day, set by the angle between the Sun and Moon. There are 30 in a lunar month.
- Vara, the weekday.
- Nakshatra, which of the 27 star segments the Moon is passing through.
- Yoga, one of 27 combinations of the Sun's and Moon's positions.
- Karana, half of a tithi.
On top of the five limbs, a good app gives the muhurat timings, the good and bad hours: Rahu Kalam, Yamaganda and Gulika, three daily slots tradition avoids for new starts; Abhijit, the midday window; Brahma Muhurta, the pre-dawn hour; Amrit Kaal, the most favourable stretch of the day's nakshatra; Choghadiya, day and night split into eight good or bad slots each; and Hora, the planetary hours. It should also tell you the lunar month in both systems, Amanta (months end at new moon, used across much of the south and west) and Purnimanta (months end at full moon, used across the north). Most of these timings hang on your local sunrise, which is why your city matters more than the app.

1. Drik Panchang: the one to install
Drik Panchang builds the panchang "for each city in the world separately", shows every timing in the table, lets you pick Amanta or Purnimanta, and carries nine regional calendars. Its Android app "doesn't need Internet connectivity to use", and it can notify you of vrats (fasting days) and Rahu Kalam. It shows ads, and its website fully supports only English and Hindi. 4.61 on Google Play India from 213,120 ratings.
2. Prokerala: the best web panchang for the south
Prokerala shows the five limbs with end times, all three good-hour windows, Choghadiya and Hora, and both month names, with Gujarati, Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu panchangs alongside. It is web-only as far as I could find, defaults to Ujjain until you enter your city, and carries ads.
3. Kalnirnay: the almanac, for Maharashtra and Gujarat
Kalnirnay's Android app (10M+ installs, 4.20 from 296,160 ratings) brings the printed almanac to your phone in Marathi, Hindi, English and Gujarati, with festivals, marriage dates and reminders. Its website is thin: no end times, no Rahu Kalam, and on 25 October its homepage panchang still showed 24 October.
4. AstroSage: a full panchang inside a kundli app
AstroSage's panchang page covers the five limbs, the bad hours, Abhijit and a chart of the sign rising at sunrise, in nine languages. If you already use AstroSage for your kundli, you have a good panchang. It also runs a gemstone shop.
5. Supastro: a panchang that explains itself (ours)
Today's Panchang works for any city with no login. It gives the five limbs with end times and what each means in plain English, both month systems, the bad hours plus Dur Muhurtam and Varjyam (two more slots to avoid), Amrit Kaal and Abhijit, and day and night Choghadiya. The Hindu calendar lists every Ekadashi (the 11th-day fast), Purnima (full moon), Amavasya (new moon) and festival to 2028, with the time to break the Ekadashi fast, and a free account reminds you the evening before. No ads, nothing sold.
6. AskSoma: complete on paper, shaky on the day
AskSoma's panchang lists every timing, including Hora and Choghadiya, in seven Indian languages, and calls itself "ad-light". On 25 October its tithi and nakshatra end times showed as blank dashes, and it named the day's observance as Masik Shivaratri, where Drik Panchang listed Sharad Purnima.
7. mPanchang: set your city before you trust it
mPanchang covers the five limbs and the main timings in English and Hindi, and sells online pujas. Loaded without a city, it defaulted to "Republic of India" and showed Revati nakshatra ending at 05:46, where Drik Panchang (New Delhi) showed 7:22 PM.
Also checked: align27 times your day by Hora and Panchapakshi (a five-bird timing system) from your chart, sold at $449.99 for life. Om.AI's web panchang is fixed to Delhi; its app uses your location.
Why does the same day show different times in different apps?
Three reasons. Only the first is the panchang doing its job. Sunrise differs by city, so Rahu Kalam in Chennai is not Rahu Kalam in Delhi. Some apps fall back to a default place (Ujjain, Delhi, or a whole country) until you choose yours: that is your job to fix. And some simply show the wrong thing, as two did on the day I checked. Before you trust any panchang, compare one tithi end time for your city with Drik Panchang.
Where does Supastro fall short as a panchang?
It shows no Brahma Muhurta. It has no regional solar calendars, so no Tamil, Bengali, Malayalam or Odia months. It is English only, has no offline mode and no Play Store or App Store app. If you need any of those, Drik Panchang does them.
What else do people ask about panchang apps?
Which is the most accurate panchang app?
None can prove it, but most compute from the same astronomy. Differences come from your city, the default location and plain errors. Drik Panchang lets you set both the city and the month system, which removes the first two.
What is the difference between Amanta and Purnimanta?
They end the lunar month at different points: Amanta at new moon, Purnimanta at full moon. Tithis and festivals stay the same; the month name for the dark fortnight shifts. Drik Panchang, Prokerala, AstroSage and Supastro show both.
Is there a panchang app that works offline?
Drik Panchang's Android app works without an internet connection, per its Play listing. None of the web panchangs here do.
Which panchang app is available in Tamil, Marathi or Bengali?
Drik Panchang has regional panchangs in all three, plus six more. AstroSage's panchang runs in nine languages. Kalnirnay covers Marathi. AskSoma's page is in seven Indian languages.
What are Rahu Kalam and Choghadiya?
Rahu Kalam is one-eighth of the daytime, a different eighth each weekday, avoided for new beginnings. Choghadiya splits day and night into eight slots each and labels them good or bad. Check Rahu Kaal for your city.
Is there a free panchang without ads?
Supastro shows no ads. Drik Panchang, Prokerala, Kalnirnay and mPanchang show ads; AskSoma calls itself "ad-light". Drik Panchang sells an ad-free option.
