Best Free Prashna and Horary Astrology Tools in 2026: 9 Compared, No Birth Time Needed
Nine free ways to ask a yes or no astrology question without your birth time, split by tradition (Vedic Prashna, the KP number method, Western horary), with what each one asks for and what it answers.

Disclosure: Supastro publishes this guide and makes one of the tools listed. Competitor facts come from each tool's own page or store listing; I did not sign up, ask or pay. Figures last checked on 2 November 2026. Nobody paid to be listed.
Prashna (Sanskrit for "question") is Vedic astrology's way of answering one question from a chart of the moment and place you ask it, so it needs no birth time. Free tools do it three ways. Vedic Prashna reads the clock in the sidereal zodiac. KP horary (Krishnamurti Paddhati) sets the rising degree from a number you pick, 1 to 249. Western horary reads the clock in the tropical zodiac, by William Lilly's 1647 rules. More in Prashna astrology explained.

- Tradition: Vedic, KP or Western, stated on the page.
- Inputs: birth details, a number, place, name, email.
- Answer: written yes or no, a leaning, or a bare chart.

1. Supastro Prashna: best for a straight answer from the moment you ask
Our free Prashna tool asks for one question and where you are; optional birth details never change the answer. It casts the chart for the second your question arrives (the standard Lahiri zodiac, whole-sign houses), judges it by 53 published rules and answers yes or no (or with a date window, in "When" mode), naming any blocking planet and a remedy that costs nothing. Why first: it times the chart itself, says when it will not judge and shows every rule that fired.
- No birth time, no sign-up
- Same question within 24 hours, same chart
- 3 questions a day, 10 with a free account
- Vedic only: no KP, no Western
- You cannot pick the moment
- English, plus a few Hindi words
- Keeps your question 12 months
2. Astrology Readings: best free tool with all three traditions
astrologyreadings.online runs Vedic, KP and Western calculators and takes no payments. The Vedic one is sidereal, judges by the Tajika rules (are the two key planets closing on an exact aspect?) and gives one of five answers, Yes to No, with timing. Where it beats us: you choose the moment, and get all three traditions. Shortfall: you type the time yourself, so the chart is only as honest as your entry.
3. Astrolium: best for Western horary
Astrolium follows Lilly: Regiomontanus houses, seven checks before judgement (such as a rising degree too early in its sign) and a search for the two key planets meeting within 30 days. It returns likely yes or no, no account needed. Where it beats us: questions in any language. Shortfall: Western, not Prashna; the 90-day search costs $29 (Adept).
4. AstroLeaf: best for KP settings in one form
AstroLeaf takes a name, one of 12 topics, a seed number (0 uses the moment's rising degree), place and time, plus a choice of four ayanamsas (zodiac offsets) and two house systems. It returns sub lords and a horary verdict. Where it beats us: those settings. Shortfall: it asks for your full name; the site sells reports with gemstone recommendations.
5. AstroSage Kundli: best Prashna chart in a phone app
Its listings mention GPS Prashna charts and KP horary. Rated 4.3 on Google Play India (1.13 million reviews), 4.34 on the App Store India (65,146 ratings). Where it beats us: a native app, 18 languages on iPhone. Shortfall: no verdict described, ads, paid astrologer calls, and the old web KP form is headed "Enter Your Birth Details".
6. OnlineJyotish: best free KP chart in Indian languages
A number, one of six question types and your city give a KP chart in six styles with ruling planets, significators (the planets tied to each house) and planetary periods, in 14 languages. Where it beats us: languages and chart styles. Shortfall: it describes tables, not a written yes or no; you read them yourself.
7 to 9: the rest
- KundliGPT: a number, nothing stored. The free answer reads only the sub lord's nature (Jupiter, Venus lean yes; Saturn, Rahu, Ketu lean to delay or denial), whatever you ask.
- PanchangBodh: a free KP chart with sub lords and ruling planets; you interpret it.
- Astrobix: a free Vedic chart for your email; the reading costs ₹199 ($4).
| Checked, not ranked | Why |
|---|---|
| Astro-Seek horary | Blocked our checks (error 403) |
| ihorary.com | Returned "Application not found" on 2 November 2026 |
| Astrotalk yes or no | A tarot card, not a chart |
| Astroshastra yes or no oracle | A "symbolic answer" with a lucky number, not a chart |
| Prokerala, Clickastro | No question-chart tool found on their sites |
How is a Prashna chart read?
Like a birth chart, with the question's moment standing in for birth. Prasna Marga, the 17th-century Kerala manual, reads the question's rising sign as you would the birth rising sign (Prasna Marga 1.45 to 47). Note the exact time and place first (2.12): without the exact rising sign, no prediction is possible (5.1).
You are the ascendant and [its lord](/chart-reading/lagna-and-lagnesh), the sign rising in the east and its ruling planet. The matter is a house: the 7th for a spouse, the 10th for work (BPHS 11.8, 11.11). If the lords of the ascendant and the 7th swap signs, sit in friendly signs, are exalted (in their strongest sign) or aspect each other, the marriage happens (Prasna Marga 17.16).
[The Moon is your mind](/chart-reading/moon-and-nakshatra). The ascendant lord and the Moon are among the factors whose strength decides how the asker fares (Prasna Marga 8.4 to 5). A waning Moon hurt by harsh planets, in an even sign from the ascendant, denies a marriage, and the Moon in the 8th obstructs it (17.15).
The blocker is the house of harm (Badhaka): the 11th, 9th or 7th for a movable, fixed or dual sign (Prasna Marga 15.111). The text counts it from the Arudha, the sign of the direction the asker stands in (2.7 to 9), and notes three views (15.113); our tool counts from the rising sign.
Vedic Prashna, KP number or Western horary: which should you use?
Pick a tradition; never mix answers. Vedic Prashna judges whole signs, lords and the Moon, so a clock a minute off rarely matters. KP judges by the sub lord, the planet ruling the thin slice on one house cusp. Western horary is tropical, with quadrant houses. Know your birth time? Use a free kundli app.
How do you check if a Prashna answer is right?
- Tradition: the page names Vedic, KP or Western.
- Moment and place: printed on the result.
- Rising degree: near a sign edge, beware: we refuse within half a degree; Lilly flags the first and last 3 degrees.
- Reasons: your planet, the matter's planet, how they meet, what blocks them.
- Ask once. Re-asking until you like it is not a reading.
Frequently asked questions
Can I ask a yes or no astrology question without my birth time?
Yes. Prashna, KP and Western horary all cast the chart for the moment of the question. You need the question and where you are; KP tools also want a number.
What is the KP horary number 1 to 249?
KP cuts each of the 27 nakshatras (lunar mansions) into 9 unequal slices and splits the 6 that cross a sign edge: 249. Your number fixes the rising degree.
Is Prashna the same as horary astrology?
Prashna is Vedic horary. Western horary uses the tropical zodiac and Lilly's rules, so the same minute gives a different chart.
Which free tool gives a straight yes or no?
Supastro (ours), Astrology Readings (five grades) and, for Western horary, Astrolium. KundliGPT's free answer is a leaning.
Do I need to sign up to use Supastro's Prashna tool?
No. Visitors get 3 questions a day, a free account 10. Repeats and unjudged charts do not count.
