Layoffs, AI and Job Loss: Is Your 10th House Built to Survive?
Does your chart show a sudden job loss, and when does the next job come? Parashara's rules for the 10th lord, the career chart and the period you are running, plus the Saturn and Rahu dates for every Moon sign from 2026 to 2028.
AI is not in anyone's birth chart. Your job is. Whether you make the next layoff list depends on three things I compute: your 10th lord, your running period, and where Saturn and Rahu walk from your Moon. Some charts are built to break inside a specific window. Here is how to find yours, with dates to 2028.
Does my chart show sudden job loss?
Some charts do, and never through one planet. It shows when your 10th lord (the planet owning the sign on your 10th house, the house of work) is damaged at birth and a hard period switches the damage on. The signatures I check first, straight from Parashara:
- 10th lord in the 8th. Devoid of acts (BPHS 24.116): long gaps without work.
- 10th lord in the 6th. Skilful, yet short of money and troubled by enemies (24.114).
- 10th lord in the 12th. Worried in spite of being skilful (24.120).
- 10th lord without strength. Obstructions in work (21.3); debilitated with malefics in your 10th and 7th, again (21.18).
- Saturn in the 10th with a debilitated planet, and a malefic in the 10th of your Navamsa (the D9 chart). Bereft of acts (21.16).
- Rahu, the Sun, Saturn and Mars together in the 11th. Cessation of duties (21.11). All four; three does not count.
None of these? A layoff is an event, not a pattern. Two of them? Frequent job loss is the pattern, and it repeats in the same kind of period.
Which parts of the chart decide whether a job survives?
Four, read together. The 10th house gives authority, livelihood and honour (BPHS 11.11). The Dasamsa (the D10, the career chart) is where Parashara reads power and position (6.13 to 14, 7.1 to 8). The 6th, 8th and 12th are the three hard houses (32.35 to 37): enemies in the 6th (11.7), expenses in the 12th (11.13). The 10th lord ties them together.
Most readings skip the D10. A 10th lord strong in your birth chart but weak there promises a career it struggles to deliver. When will I lose my job, or get a new one?
The period decides; the transit only pulls the trigger. Your Vimshottari dasha (the planetary period you are running: a main period of years, a sub-period of months) says which house is in charge. Parashara gives each lord's period a result (BPHS 48.2 to 8), and one rule overrides: a period lord in the 6th, 8th or 12th, debilitated or in an enemy's sign gives trouble (47.5 to 6). Two exceptions. A 6th, 8th or 12th lord joined to the lord of the 1st, 5th or 9th turns favourable (BPHS 48.14 to 17). Rahu and Ketu do well in the 3rd, 6th and 11th (48.18 to 20), but Rahu with a malefic or debilitated gives loss of position (47.40 to 43), and Phaladeepika lists dismissal from an office among Rahu's period results (19.14). Is Saturn or Rahu about to hit my 10th house?
Transits count from your Moon sign (the sign your Moon occupied at birth), not your rising sign (Phaladeepika 26.1). Saturn in the 10th from the Moon brings loss of honour (26.23); in the 3rd, acquisition of position or employment (26.22). Rahu does well where the Sun does: the 3rd, 6th, 10th and 11th (26.2). - Saturn: Pisces until 3 June 2027, Aries to 20 October 2027, back in Pisces to 23 February 2028, then Aries.
- Rahu: Aquarius until 5 December 2026, Capricorn to 23 June 2028, then Sagittarius.
- Jupiter: Leo from 31 October 2026, Cancer 25 January to 26 June 2027, Leo to 26 November 2027, then Virgo.

From 20 October 2027 to 23 February 2028 Saturn is back in Pisces, so the first Saturn column returns. Saturn bites hardest in the last ten degrees of a sign (Phaladeepika 26.25): in Pisces, 11 March to 3 June 2027 and again from 20 October 2027. Gemini Moons, those are your worst stretches. Jupiter in the 10th from the Moon threatens position too (Phaladeepika 26.20; Prasna Marga 22.14): Scorpio Moons while Jupiter is in Leo, Libra Moons from 25 January to 26 June 2027, Sagittarius Moons once it reaches Virgo.
Does AI change the reading?
No. A team cut for automation and a minister dismissed by a king are the same event in a chart: a weak 10th lord, a hard period, a slow planet on the wrong house. AI changes the direction of your pivot. Brihat Jataka names it: a planet in your 10th or, with the 10th empty, the lord of the Navamsa sign holding your 10th lord is the planet your living comes through (10.1). Which house shows job loss in Vedic astrology?
No single house. Read the 10th and its lord with the 6th, 8th and 12th. The 10th lord in the 8th gives gaps without work (BPHS 24.116); 8th and 12th lord periods bring the breaks (48.5 to 8).
Can astrology predict a sudden job loss?
It can show the window: a damaged 10th lord, an 8th or 12th lord period, and Saturn in the 10th or 12th from your Moon, together. Any one alone is not a prediction.
When will I get a new job according to astrology?
In a period of your 10th, 1st, 5th or 9th lord, or with Saturn in the 3rd, 6th or 11th from your Moon. Capricorn Moons have Saturn in the 3rd until 3 June 2027; Aquarius Moons from then.
Is Saturn transit in the 10th house bad for a job?
From the Moon, yes: loss of honour (Phaladeepika 26.23). Gemini Moons until 3 June 2027 and 20 October 2027 to 23 February 2028; Cancer Moons 3 June to 20 October 2027 and from 23 February 2028.
Is Rahu in the 10th house good for career?
In transit from the Moon, yes (Phaladeepika 26.2). Aries Moons have it from 5 December 2026 to 23 June 2028. In the birth chart, judge Rahu by its house and the lord it sits with (BPHS 34.16).
Should I quit my job before a bad period starts?
Not without an offer in hand. In an 8th or 12th lord period the danger is the gap. Check when it starts in the Dasha Calculator and move while your current period is still good.
