# Step 8: Divisional Charts, the Cross-Check

How to cross-check a Vedic birth chart in the divisional charts: confirming marriage in the D9, career in the D10, and why an unconfirmed promise is hollow.

Before you time anything, you confirm it. The eighth step takes each promise from the main chart into the divisional chart that governs it, because a promise the varga denies is hollow. This single discipline separates real readings from confident guesses.

Marriage shown in the main chart must hold up in the Navamsa (D9); career in the Dasamsa (D10); children in the Saptamsa (D7); the deepest karma in the Shashtiamsa (D60). If the governing chart disagrees, the promise is not funded.

## How to do it

2. Take each one into its governing divisional chart.
3. Keep only the promises the varga confirms, and flag the ones it denies.
4. Note any vargottama planets, which are strongly confirmed.

Cross-checking comes after the promises are identified and before timing, because there is no point timing an event the divisional charts never supported in the first place.
