Will Your Ex Come Back? The Chart Answer (Venus Retrograde Isn't It)
Venus retrograde is not bringing your ex back. Your 7th lord, your Upapada and your running period put you on one of three tracks: comes back and stays, comes back and leaves again, or gone.
No, Venus retrograde will not bring your ex back. It turned retrograde on 3 October 2026 and turns direct on 14 November, and those same 42 days run over every chart on Earth. Whether your ex returns is written in your own chart, in three places: your 7th lord (the planet ruling your partner house), your Upapada (the marriage point) and the period you are running. Together they put you on one of three tracks.
Does Venus retrograde bring your ex back?
No. Here are the real 2026 dates in the sidereal zodiac Jyotish uses, computed with Supastro's Lahiri setting. Venus (Shukra) turns retrograde on 3 October at 12:37 IST at Libra 14°15', passes the Sun on 24 October, slips back into Virgo on 6 November and turns direct on 14 November at 05:53 IST at Virgo 28°37', a degree and a half past its deepest point of fall (Virgo 27°, BPHS 3.49 to 50).
Parashara ranks eight kinds of planetary motion and gives retrograde motion 60, the highest strength of the eight (BPHS 27.21 to 23, from Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra). Mantreswara says Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn are strong when retrograde (Phaladeepika 4.4 to 5), and that a retrograde planet acts as if exalted even from its sign of fall (9.20). Retrograde means strength. Nothing in the texts says it sends anyone back, and one sky event that touches every chart at once cannot pick your ex out of the crowd. Is there any classical rule for someone coming back?
One, and it was written for travellers, not exes. Prasna Marga gives question-chart rules for the return of a person who has left home: in the chart cast for the moment of the question, a retrograde planet in the 7th house, or a retrograde 10th lord in the 9th, means the person returns (Prasna Marga 27.40 to 42). What decides whether your ex comes back?
Three switches in your birth chart. Your 7th house and its lord show the partner (BPHS 11.8). Your Upapada Lagna, the arudha (the image, how a house shows up in the world) of the 12th house, shows the marriage, and the 2nd house from it shows whether it continues (BPHS 30.1 to 16). Your running dasha (the planetary period you are in) shows whether the door is open now. Benefics here are Jupiter, Venus, a waxing Moon and Mercury; malefics are Saturn, Mars, the Sun, Rahu, Ketu and a waning Moon (BPHS 3.11). The texts are written for a man's chart, and Parashara says every rule applies to a woman's chart too, with the husband read from her 7th (BPHS 80.2).
One brutal point first. Your chart has no house for an ex. These verses describe the spouse and the marriage. My reading: if the relationship was never heading to marriage, your Upapada may not describe it at all, and a Prashna for your question is the sharper tool. Find your row.

What do Jupiter and Saturn transits say for 2026 and 2027?
Transits are the trigger, counted from your Moon sign. Mantreswara gives Jupiter in the 7th from the Moon happiness with the spouse (Phaladeepika 26.19); Saturn in the 7th a suffering spouse, travel and fear, and Saturn in the 4th loss of spouse, relations and wealth (26.22). Frequently asked questions
Will my ex come back according to astrology?
Only if your chart puts you on that track: a benefic on or aspecting your Upapada, a clean 2nd house from it, and a running period tied to your 7th. If your Upapada is afflicted with no benefic help and your 7th lord is weak in the 6th, 8th or 12th, the answer is no.
Does Venus retrograde bring exes back?
No. In Jyotish a retrograde planet is a strong planet (BPHS 27.21 to 23), and no verse in the classical texts links it to returning lovers.
When is Venus retrograde in 2026?
From 3 October 2026, 12:37 IST, at Libra 14°15' sidereal, to 14 November 2026, 05:53 IST, at Virgo 28°37'. It passes the Sun on 24 October and slips back into Virgo on 6 November.
Will my ex come back after no contact?
No contact does not change the chart. Your Upapada and 7th lord set the track and your dasha sets the timing. Silence neither opens nor closes that door.
